Mr. Steven Ray began his first term as a J.O. Combs Unified School District Governing Board member in January 2019. Mr. Ray taught Special Education at the High School level for 11 years. He also taught the Japanese Language at the high school level for 7 years. He holds Master's degree in Bilingual and Multicultural Education and in Educational Leadership. Mr. Ray is currently employed as a school administrator in an east valley public school district. Mr. Ray has six children, four that have already graduated from Combs High School, and one that will graduate from Combs High School in May of 2023. His youngest has attended Combs High School since the Fall of 2019. Mr. Ray's oldest daughter graduated from High School before the Combs District had built and opened a high school. Mr. Ray is a native to Mesa, Arizona and moved to San Tan Valley 14 years ago.

bdelena@jocombs.orgMr. Bob D’Elena began his first term as a J.O. Combs Unified School District Governing Board member in January 2015. He is a retired corporate manager, high school teacher, and college professor. He holds a master’s degree in student personnel. Mr. D’Elena has been involved in the education of students at the high school and college level, and he has experience in adult education and corporate level training. As a college professor, he was a member of a curriculum committee. Additionally, he has been involved with expense, revenue, and capital budgets in the college and corporate settings. Mr. D’Elena and his wife moved to San Tan Valley in August 2013. He has been married for 40 years and has two children and three grandchildren. He enjoys music, sports, and travel.
Shelly Hargis, Governing Board Member

Mrs. Shelly Hargis began her first term as a J.O. Combs Governing Board Member in 2008 and has since been re-elected in 2020. She is a certified teacher and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education with an English as a Second Language endorsement. Mrs. Hargis has over 7 years of experience in the classroom and over 20 years as a community member. She is very active in the community having served on numerous PTO’s, Booster Clubs, Parent-Superintendent Councils, as well as many special committees. Mrs. Hargis and her husband, Carl, have lived in the J.O. Combs District since 2000. They have three children, all starting and will be finishing their K-12 educational careers in the district.
Jennifer Tucker, Governing Board Member

Mrs. Jennifer Tucker is an Arizona native who has resided in San Tan Valley since 2004. The center of her life revolves around her husband, Ryan and their five children, three of whom have graduated from Combs High School. Mrs. Tucker holds her Real Estate and Cosmetology License, and in her free time enjoys real estate investing, wood working, and cheering for her kids at their sporting events. She has been involved in many booster clubs and has been on the Parent Superintendent Council for the last three years. She is currently working on her first multi-family syndication. Mrs. Tucker is very active in her church and community, and is excited to learn and grow as she serves on the school board to give back to the community.
Jason Beach, Governing Board Member

Mr. Jason Beach is a proud Arizona native and has been a San Tan Valley resident since 2017. He and his wife Kami have six children, three of whom are past or current students in the district. He and his wife enjoy being active and engaged in their children’s education and love seeing them compete and perform. Mr. Beach has dedicated his career to education, serving over 15 years in K-12 and over ten years in higher education admissions. He holds two Masters degrees in Elementary Education and Educational Leadership, and has worked in numerous roles as a teacher, coach, and Administrator/Principal. He currently teaches at an elementary school in Mesa in addition to being active in his church.
